Stealth is the new, ground-breaking rod series from Century. Stealth rods are incredibly stable when casting and prevent the blank from twisting during the cast thanks to the second generation of our Anti-Twist technology. The most advanced blank Century has ever produced combined with stylish rod components such as black guides and a laser engraved ALPS reel seat make the Stealth rod series the current highlight in the rod sector. Once again, Century has impressively underlined its leading position in rod making with the Stealth rod series.
The Century Stealth series offers the following advantages:
-
Anti-Twist Technology (Generation 2) for accuracy, less line tangles and longer casting distances with less effort.
-
Graphene enhanced resin system - for low weight with enormous strength and robustness.
-
Composite compound carbon tapers for perfect twist characteristics in the respective test curve.
-
Autoclave Technology for long-lasting stability
-
Choice of titanium stealth finish SiC guides or matt black steel guides
-
Black ALPS reel seat with laser-engraved logo
-
Blank in PTFE/silicone low scratch finish.
-
Our extensive experience in long distance casting, aerospace and motorsport with regard to carbon composite technology has been incorporated into this product line
-
Blank and rod designed and produced entirely in the UK
What's behind the technology?
Century uses a unique combination of a polymer resin matrix and graphene in the construction of the Stealth rods. The matrix bears the stresses generated during casting and drilling. Thanks to the graphene material used, the result is a blank with unprecedented strength and robustness.
Graphene is a form of carbon in a single-layer honeycomb lattice, the discovery of which won the Nobel Prize in Physics in its day.
When properly incorporated into the resin system, graphene has the ability to greatly increase the material's resistance to one-dimensional (e.g. nanotube) and zero-dimensional (e.g. nanoparticle) materials for reinforcement. This means Century can build lighter rods with enormous strength and robustness, just as you would expect from a Century carp rod.
What is the second generation of Anti-Twist Technology (Gen 2 AT-T)?
The new technology used in the construction of the blanks is highly innovative. The graphene material we use helps to give the rod tip the second generation of Anti-Twist Technology. This radically improves the stability and straight alignment of the blank, resulting in improved casting accuracy, less line tangles and greater casting distance.
All rods have a so-called "moment of inertia" and this is particularly evident in lightweight rods, which tend to twist at the tip when casting. The second generation AT-T can withstand this angular acceleration thanks to the use of graphene fibres woven into the blank wall at different angles.
Century's special method of making this possible without sacrificing sensitivity in the rod tip and keeping the tip weight as low as possible stabilises the geometry of the ring alignment during blank compression on the cast and during the fight.
