Navigating the MUR Bivvy Fishing Shop – How to Find the Right Tent?
Some important considerations when choosing the right bivvy certainly revolve around size and capacity. Think about how your fishing session is planned and how much space you need for your tackle inside the bivvy. It’s frustrating when your plans fall apart at the last minute due to insufficient space. At the same time, larger dimensions often mean higher costs, more weight, and increased pack size, which can limit your mobility and make transportation more difficult.
When buying a new bivvy, you should take common weather conditions into account – robustness and complete weather resistance are invaluable.
Make sure you know which features you cannot do without. Do you need excellent water drainage or optimal ventilation?
Here are some additional questions to consider when selecting the right bivvy for your needs:
- Where do you plan to fish with the bivvy most of the time?
- How long are your sessions usually? Do you fish short or extended sessions?
- How much space do you need inside your new bivvy?
- How much money do you want to spend on the bivvy?
- Do you prefer a specific manufacturer or brand?
- Would you like a pram hood system, pop-up system, or umbrella system?
- What bivvy accessories do you need?
- Are winter sessions part of the plan?
- Do you use a bivvy heater?

1-Man Bivvies and Compact Tents
We offer 1-man bivvies for short or long sessions – whether for use in Germany, extended trips to France, or neighboring European countries. Our one-person tents come from all leading brands, as well as from smaller manufacturers.
A 1-man bivvy provides space for one angler and all essential carp fishing tackle. The carp bedchair can typically be placed lengthwise or crosswise. Some manufacturers optimize bedchairs and bivvy walls to make efficient use of the available space. Your gear usually fits behind or under the bedchair, while there is space in the front area for cooking. In winter, 1-man bivvies can be comfortably heated with tent heaters.
To reduce condensation, we recommend overwraps, which provide extra insulation and help prevent moisture from collecting inside the bivvy.
1-man bivvies are generally significantly smaller than 2-man bivvies. Compact tents offer the advantage of a smaller footprint, which is particularly useful in overgrown or limited spaces. 2-man bivvies are more commonly used for extended sessions or when fishing with a partner – for example, abroad, or for shared sessions in extreme weather conditions.
2-Man Bivvies – The Perfect Balance of Mobility and Space
Medium-sized bivvies usually offer enough room for two carp bedchairs and storage for multi-day sessions. This is crucial – make sure you plan enough space for all your tackle when purchasing. The larger the tent, the more comfortable your fishing experience inside the bivvy – but this additional space always comes at the cost of added weight, which can limit mobility and flexibility.
Almost all of our partner brands offer spacious 2-man bivvies in their product ranges – feel free to contact our customer service for personalized advice.
