If you want to use your SRM for different fishing techniques and different rods, you should buy one or more spare spools.

With a second spool, you can also ideally spool your reel with the right running length of your braided line without unnecessarily "wasting" many metres of expensive line.

With a second spool, you can, for example, wind 150 metres of braided line and then fill the reel up to the edge of the spool with a cheaper monofilament line (it is best to tie the two lines together with a double Grinner knot). Then simply connect the monofilament filling line to the spool core of the second spool and wind the complete line including the braided line (backwards, so to speak) onto the other spool. Now you have optimally loaded your reel with 150 metres of your preferred braided line up to the edge of the spool.
