The STROFT LS was developed on the basis of a new polyamide alloy. The tuning focus is on reducing elongation while ensuring the highest possible tensile strength. This is what the abbreviation LS stands for (for low stretch). The diagram "Elongation properties" shows an elongation at break (at 100% line load) of approx. 17% for STROFT LS (purple). This is significantly lower than the other polyamide cords or fluorocarbon cords. In the area of ??stretching from the start (approx. 50% line load), LS is significantly lower with an elongation of approx. 9%. (Only braided lines made of UHMWPE have an even lower stretch). In the area of ??fine load elongation (approx. 10% cord load), LS is also below the other polyamide cords, but slightly above fluorocarbon. The tensile strength values ??(on average for all diameters between 0.10mm and 0.60mm) are the highest that have so far been achieved with monofilaments. This applies to both the tensile strengths with knots and the tensile strengths without knots. In the area of ??the thinner diameters, the values ??are still similar to the GTM, but then increase continuously. The 0.60mm STROFT LS carries an impressive 33.0 kg! So when it comes to the lowest possible elongation with the highest possible load bearing capacity and a slightly greater rigidity, STROFT LS is the first choice. The somewhat greater rigidity also requires a somewhat larger memory, which can also have a negative effect when tying knots (depending on the type of knot). If such a knot is not tied “correctly”, a slight “curling” of the cord can occur. The same applies to practical use, for example through a sharp edge. However, if it is not too strong, this "curling" can be eliminated relatively easily. If this is observed, the STROFT LS should also be of interest to the fly fisherman. The slightly higher stiffness, compared to softer lines, favors the stretching and rolling behavior of the fly leader, especially that of the tip.
